Are You Saved?

There's an old punchline, “God loves you, but I'm his favorite.” I've used that line to get a smile and a chuckle but the attitude behind the joke can be toxic for it involves judgment. I'm saved, you're damned. Jesus railed against this attitude when he declared everyone has a chance to live in the Kingdom.

apostolic-times.com continues with context for the season's readings. In Hebrews 12, the author urged his audience to endure in order to receive blessing. In Luke 13, Jesus warned his followers not to assume their salvation.
