13th Sunday in Ordinary Time - B - June 28, 2015
Raise Me Up, Lord
How many of us have found life hard, without purpose? There are times in life we might feel alone. We endure the grief of a deceased relative. We feel the sting of a lost relationship. We undergo the loss of a job, forcing a change in our careers. Those are the times we cry out to God for his word and his touch. Those are the moments he wants us to raise us up, just as Jairus wanted his daughter raised.
DAILY READINGS FOR TWELFTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME
WEEKLY BLOG In this week's blog, we begin a brief history of Roman-Hellenism. In our first installment, we look into classical Greek culture as a urban phenomena.
MP3 PODCAST In this week's podcast, we consider healing as simple as a word and a touch.
FIRST READING The book of Wisdom attacked the fatalism of the age with hope in a God who loves us, even into eternal life.
PSALM Psalm 30 celebrated the gift of restored health, a gift we take for granted until we fall sick.
SECOND READING In 2 Corinthians 8, St. Paul reminded his audience to share the blessings they received with those who were in need.
GOSPEL In this week's gospel, we see the process of Jesus' miracles: proclamation of the Good News, opposition from the skeptics, restoration of the afflicted. In this passage, he raised a girl from the dead.
CHILDREN'S READINGS In the first reading, Crystal threw a fit for a good cause, care for the homeless. In story for the gospel, Lars prayed for grandma who suffered from cancer, then heard the good news that she was in remission. Yes, God does hear our prayers.
