There's an old punchline, “God loves you, but I'm his favorite.” I've used that line to get a smile and a chuckle, but the attitude behind the joke can be toxic, for it involves judgment. I'm saved, you're damned. Jesus railed against this attitude when he declared everyone has a chance to live in the Kingdom.
