To heal a country - open call

Society needs to be healed, mended and shaken up. This necessary collective healing process takes place by meeting around the most pressing issues of art and society. Art and human rights are inextricably intertwined, a fundamental understanding that can help us become bearers of a lasting power and capacity for change.

Konsthall C opens our program in the spring and autumn for conversations that we are missing and that we hope many people want to join and contribute to. We call for everything from workshops, rites, healing experiments, dance, art works, music, lectures, conversations, speeches, activist training to choral singing. We are open to anything that sets the collective in motion. New forms of community are determined by the depth of our relationships and our shared longing. Relationships are the simple interaction that unites us, with our loved ones, people we encounter in our everyday life, and how we live as citizens of society.

Do you want to join and contribute to healing the country?

Ulrika Flink is artistic director 2023

Ulrika Flink's artistic program is extended by up to one year. Due to the effects of the pandemic, the board has decided to extend Ulrika's position, so that she can fully implement her artistic vision.

Ulrika Flink took over as artistic director in January 2020. Her exhibition program, which examines language and voice in relation to collectivity, aims to create space for different movements to ally with each other. With Hökarängen as a starting point, Konsthall C would become a place for different perspectives to meet in dialogue about what a just society should look like. The first three years have been characterized by global and local perspectives in dialogue.

-Ulrika's program has expanded both outwards, into Hökarängen's collective space, and at the same time into the innermost mechanisms of the gallery. The exhibitions, which alternates prominent international artists with curatorial experiments, have been followed by a questioning of Konsthall C's structure, history and identity. Her work here has established us as one of Sweden's most interesting spaces for contemporary art.

Erik Annerborn, managing director

At the same time, preparations begin to recruit a new artistic director for the period 2024–2026. The board is looking forward to the last year with Ulrika:

-We are very happy that Ulrika Flink accepted our offer. We see that the innovative and qualitative program Flink has started is now given good conditions to establish itself further and for Konsthall C to continue to be a strong voice in contemporary art.

Coming up at Konsthall C

Sensing Citation: the Sensing Salon

Saturday, February 4, 11:00 – 17:00

at Konsthall C

Full-day workshop with Valentina Desideri and Denise Ferreira da Silva

The Sensing Salon is an ongoing research and studio practice by Valentina Desideri and Denise Ferreira da Silva.

The practice of the Sensing Salon expands the image of art beyond objects, events, and discourse to include the healing arts. Through formats that facilitate collaborative studying and experimenting with different practices and tools for reading (tarot and astrology) and healing (reiki and political therapy), the Sensing Salon enables thinking about political and social issues in a way that attends to the emotional, physical, and spiritual aspects of existence.

This full-day workshop session reflects on the role of citation within the sensory practice making of the Sensing Salon.
