Subject: New archive and digital exhibition

Don't miss Xaviera Simmons and Maryam Fanni

Autumn is here and the days are getting darker and darker. If you haven’t yet, take the opportunity to visit our new show Nectar. Xaviera Simmons' exhibition interprets a century of life, struggle and joy.

For those of you who are bedridden, starting today we are showing Maryam Fanni's Ögon möter ögon in our digital exhibition space.

We constantly strive to develop as an organization, and part of that is to seek inspiration internationally. Read more at the end of the newsletter.

Ögon möter ögon

Maryam Fanni is next up in our digital exhibition gallery Atlas no. 3.

The exhibition "Ögon möter ögon" (Eyes Meet Eyes) can be described as a digital city walk in, and a mental map of, Hökarängen and its surroundings. The photo series is part of Fanni's exploration of the place and how it is constantly changing, through shop windows, ground floors and reflective glass.

Black Archives Sweden

Konsthall C invites Black Archives Sweden (BAS), a project where archives meet contemporary art that bears many similarities to Afro Charities, with whom we collaborate in connection to the exhibition Nectar by Xaviera simmons. BAS is based on the experiences of Afro-Swedes and shows the importance of minority archives in Sweden for our common cultural heritage. BAS wants to open up questions about which narratives we allow to be part of the national story about Sweden, which lives do we remember and how do we remember them. Which stories are worth preserving, and on what terms?

BAS and Konsthall C joins forces to develop a

new Afro-Swedish book collection

During the exhibition Nectar, readings are organized connected to the creation of a book collection that focuses on Afro-Swedish stories. The audience is invited to suggest which titles should be included in the collection that is slowly growing in the exhibition room. After the exhibition, the collection will be donated to Black Archives Sweden.

Meet Black Archive Sweden 21-23 Oct, 12-17

Black Archive Sweden is creating a temporary scanning station at Konsthall C for its project the family archive, which focuses on collecting Afro-Swedish family photos. Meet Joella Kalala from BAS who will introduce the project and help you contribute with your family images to tell a new story about Afro Swedish life in Sweden.

21-23 Oct, 12-17 at Konsthall C.

Visiting the future

“I am at Casco in Utrecht at a solidarity camp for cultural workers. The event is organized by Platform BK, which works for artists' rights in the Netherlands. The organization was formed 10 years ago, when the newly appointed government cut the support for art in half. Several of the participants believe that the events led to increased uncertainty, but also new ways of organizing artists. It gives me hope.

One of the initiatives that hold workshops for us is called Fossil-Free Cultures NL.

In recent years, they have managed to get all but two museums to stop accepting oil money.

A stone's throw from Casco, in the cultural center Moira, a Filipino artist and guerrilla member, shows drawings from inside the struggle against the military junta. We talk about floods and droughts, that the future is already there. It will also catch up with Europe, sooner or later. The challenges and,  if we want and dare to, the solutions as well.”
