Konsthall C invites Black Archives Sweden (BAS), a project where archives meet contemporary art that bears many similarities to Afro Charities, with whom we collaborate in connection to the exhibition Nectar by Xaviera simmons. BAS is based on the experiences of Afro-Swedes and shows the importance of minority archives in Sweden for our common cultural heritage. BAS wants to open up questions about which narratives we allow to be part of the national story about Sweden, which lives do we remember and how do we remember them. Which stories are worth preserving, and on what terms?
BAS and Konsthall C joins forces to develop a new Afro-Swedish book collection During the exhibition Nectar, readings are organized connected to the creation of a book collection that focuses on Afro-Swedish stories. The audience is invited to suggest which titles should be included in the collection that is slowly growing in the exhibition room. After the exhibition, the collection will be donated to Black Archives Sweden.
