Subject: Use your telescope and "see where the hell you were born"!

Hello Friend,

That's what the inventor of the Dobsonian telescope, the late John Dobson, once told a lady who made the mistake in asking
him the question of "Why should I look through a telescope"?, when invited to look through one.

Now, that was in Texas, where a response like that might have you looking down the barrel of a shotgun,
or even an assault rifle.

       But Dobson didn't care.

He was a firm believer that amateur astronomers are the one's who can best communicate the wonders of the
night sky to the public at large.

And, I'll have to agree with that.

Over the years, many an amateur astronomer, and many RASC members, have hauled out their personal
telescopes onto lawns, in front of bookstores, and parking lots for members of the public to see a night sky object.

I'm still amazed that when I tell most folks I am in the telescope business, they can relate a story to me about
how either they or a family member once owned a telescope.

Or that they had at one point or another looked through a telescope.

The most interesting stories are about how some middle age folks remember how their parent, usually father, had
ground his own mirror, and made a working telescope years ago, before the wide  commercial availability of  amateur
telescopes.

Perhaps you know someone that at some point built or made their own telescope?

Can you recall what you might have seen through it?

Today, it's certainly more cost effective to buy a quality astronomical telescope, regardless of your budget.

And, if you are on a budget, then consider buying one of pre-owned telescopes.

Yes, we do accept trade-ins, and also purchase astrononomical telescopes outright, if that is what you prefer.

Life can get busy sometimes, and if your telescope is collecting dust, and not being used, well just remember
that a telescope ideally really should be used.

That's what they are for.

They don't make good dust collectors. They are way better are collecting photons! :)

Clear Skies,

Ray "Telescope" Khan

PS We carefully inspect all our used telescopes, before they are sold. And they are tested to ensure that they
are in correct and proper working condition, and optical alignment as well.
