About the Meade LX65 Alt-Az GoTo Mount

The Meade LX65 GoTo Mount is easy to set up and portable enough to take wherever you go. The portability factor is due, in part, to the single fork arm design of the LX65, however, this fork arm is no wimp! It can hold your main OTA as well as a scope up to seven (7) pounds on the included secondary saddle plate. The high-tech electronics of the LX65 include GPS and a GoTo hand controller called the Meade AudioStar.
With a 30,000 object database and a built-in speaker, the Meade AudioStar will take you to an astounding number of celestial objects with the push of a few buttons AND tell you about them once you've arrived! The AudioStar also has a special built-in tour that will show you the best objects for any night you are observing (Tonight's Best), and it also allows you to add to the database if you want to remember the location of an interloper into our solar system, such as a comet or asteroid. The AudioStar is also used for alignment and controls the speed at which your telescope slews, or moves, across the sky.
The LX65 series telescopes have what it takes to align to your location and date in no time. When prompted by the AudioStar, just enter your site information, find level and North, and Easy Align picks two alignment stars for you and places them right in your viewfinder. Center them to fine-tune your alignment, and viola, the wonders of the Universe are at your fingertips!
The LX65 telescope is powered by eight (8) user-supplied C-cell batteries for cord-free observing. As an option, you can a purchase an external 12V power supply and cable. The mount sits on an adjustable metal tripod. The steel tripod legs are locked into place by a tripod spreader bar which gives you extra stability.
