Subject: How we deal with scammers

Hello Friend,

This is a rant today, but I am more annoyed than anything.

Have you ever received a  phone call from some company pretending to want to fix the virus on your computer over the phone, then hacking into your computer and planting a virus, and holding your ransom to pay $$$ or they keep your computer locked up?

Or the email from Nigeria which advises you that you have can earn millions of dollars if you will only help them transfer the assets
of their deceased relative yadda, yadda yadda.

Cripes, do people fall for this kind of nonsense?

Guess so, 'cos the crooks keep doing it.

Well, occasionally we have to deal with the odd customer trying to pull a scam over here at our retail store.

Such as one recently, where a customer actually picked up a telescope from our store, paid for it then called their credit card company
to report that they never received it.

Can you believe it?

The majority of people are honest, but every once in a while we get a person like this sad to say.
In this case, a well-dressed "female professional  "who you think would be "above board".

Crikey! Guess not.

Let me tell you how we deal with this sort of stuff:  First of all, every transaction is recorded on video cameras located in the store
at the cash and elsewhere. So the entire transaction is recorded on a tape, which is also backed up daily.

Then we get our lawyer involved, and he does not mince words in the least.  And he will find the person who tries to rip us off
and contact them at work, or home or whatever it takes until the matter is resolved.

Of course, with all the evidence we supply to the credit card issuer, the matter usually gets resolved that way,  but not as immediately
as with our lawyer being involved.
