Subject: Get ready for Today's Solar Eclipse

Hello Friend,

Today's partial eclipse of the Sun will be a good one, depending on where you are.

If you are out on the West Coast of Canada, like I am ,where it's raining cats and dogs
well just fuggadaboutit.

It will depend of course on  your local time, for example Toronto, where he eclipse will be visible
around 6:20pm.

How an eclipse occurs:  The moon passes in front of the sun, casting a shadow.

Since the sun will be obscured by approximately 70% ,it will appear as a small crescent.

WARNING! Do not observe the sun directly during an eclipse.

Here is what you can do:

1) Obtain a #14 Welders glass and observe directly through the glass

2) Buy a special pair of Eclipse viewing glasses

3) Use a special Glass/Mylar filter designed for fitting over the front of your telescope
and specifically made for solar observing.

Now remember, this is the last Solar eclipse till August 2017, so if you get a chance
to observe it safely, take advantage of it.

And it just so happens, that the sun is quite active right now as well.

Clear and Sunny skies
