One of the most common questions we get asked, and especially around the holidays, after someone has received a New Telescope as
a gift, is how can I get the most out of my instrument? What eyepieces and accessories are the most useful to have.

Here is a partial  list of some of the more useful items, worth having, to get the most out of your equipment;

Eyepieces and Barlow Lens:  

The majority of telescopes usually come with one eyepiece, when you buy them, or at the most 2.
Eyepieces are probably the most important part of any telescope. Why? Because they are what you actually
look through, and can actually increase or decrease the telescope's performance depending on the quality.
Today, there are many good quality eyepieces in the marketplace made by manufacurers such as Baader (Hyperion series),
TeleVue is considered to be the leader when it comes to top notch eyepieces, hands down:  Meade offers some reasonably
Priced eyepieces, which are good value for the money.  If there is one thing I would say, it would be that do not skimp
when it comes to buying eyepieces. Buy the best you can afford. Remember, if you upgrade your telescope down the road,
a good quality eyepiece will always work with it. As for Barlow lenses, they will give you some economy, because you are
able to get more mileage from your eyepieces. However, you do suffer a slight loss of resolution as a result. The best workaround
is to consider buying TeleVue,   Barlows and Powermates. I've found these to be excellent quality!

Power Supplies:

If your instrument uses batteries, and an optional DC or AC power adaptor is available from the manufacturer, then
I highly recommend you purchase it. Computerized telescopes, tend to consume more power when being slewed to objects
in the Sky. If you are using batteries, well they are simply not going to last long, especially in our cool Canadian climate.
If you want a Portable Power supply, then consider something like the Celestron Powertanks available in 7amp or 17amp, as
these will allow you to power your instrument for 1 to 2 nights observing.
Be wary of using poor quality 3rd party power supplies, which may damage your sensitive electronics, and worse, even void
the warranty, if the manufacture determines an unauthorized power supply was used.
