Subject: Did Galileo gave the finger to the Catholic church?

Hello Friend,

In my recent travels, I had the pleasure of visiting the city of Florence, Italy a remarkable.
place of much history, wine, food and mind blowing church architecture.

One of my motivations in wanting to go there was because it is the home of the Galileo Museum.

The museum houses several artifacts of the great astronomer  Galileo as well as many astronomical and terrestrial telescopes
of all kinds of different vintages.

There are scientific instruments from the 1500's to the last century on display.

Truly, it's a fascinating place to visit and if you ever have the opportunity to visit the beautiful city
of Florence, well worth a visit amongst the many wonders

Galileo himself was born in Pisa (Yes, home of the famous  Leaning Tower) which is about
an hour away by car from Florence.

One of the most curious items in the Galileo museum was that of the preserved forefinger of Galileo
kept in a bell jar.

The finger is bent in such a way to appear as though Galileo, in his final parting gesture might be sending
a very particular message to his persecutors at the time: the Catholic church.

This is just a theory, but I wouldn't put it past him to want to have the final word.

One of the powerful families in Florence in Galileo's time was the Medici family. They were bankers and financiers
and in fact, right now on Netflix, there is an excellent series on this most unusual family which is definitely
worth watching.

I'll also  mention right now there are several steamy sex scenes in the series, should you require any further motivation to watch it,
not that you would of course, right?

It's now Sunday and the second day into our 3-day celebration sale of Canada's 150th birthday.
