Khan Scope associate Mike Petch has tested out the New Meade LXPS 18 amp
battery and here is his report:

It’s a beautiful early Spring night cold, cloudless and clear.

The Virgo galaxy cluster is riding higher in the eastern sky and the
unthinkable has just happened. My power supply with one premonitory flicker
has just shuddered and died, taking my careful star alignment along with
it.

Horrors! This is the one think you don't want to happen. But, fear not,
it’s Meade to the rescue with their new Lithium battery. This modern
marvel is state of the art and the last word in just plain good design.

First it's a battery and rated at 18 amp/hours it allows hours of observing
power for 12 volt telescope systems.
A multiplicity of ports allows other accessories to simultaneously run such
as autoguiders and dew heaters.

A 3-level red flashlight lets you find those things you dropped in the dark
and without ruining your night-adapted eyes.

If you want to call a fellow enthusiast to share what you're observing,
with only 2% left on your smartphone, you'll love the fast charge USB port
and 2 other ports are also provided.

What really blew me away was the inverter. Yes, an inverter! Next time a
storm creates a power outage all I need do is plug a table lamp into this
device...and...bingo, light again!

You can't overcharge, undercharge or short out this device-it’s
foolproof.

It comes with a charger, of course, but an interesting assortment of
accessories allows a variety of devices to connect. It's light weight at
just over four and a half pounds with an attractive design and LED lights
to monitor it's functions.

What's not to love about this one?

But tonight it's still Winter alas, though Spring is just around the
corner. To be sure i’ll be out there again chasing the Leo and Virgo
galaxies but this timewith a power supply I can trust!

PS Don’t be the dude that cobbled together a power supply to power his
Computerized telescope and blew out the electronics. A $1200 repair.
Ouch.
To save a few bucks. Don’t muck around unless you know what you are doing.
And then Don’t do it.
