Subject: Barbie the Astronomer, astronomy is for everyone!

Many people have accused the manufacturer Mattel of producing the famous Barbie doll to represent an ideal that really does not exist in our society , and certainly by todays standards.

You only have drop by Gus’s Fried chicken in Little Rock, Arkansas to know this is true.

I’ve been there and they make the BEST fried chicken bar none.

But I digress.

The original Barbie doll was blonde and looked like your typical model of the times: lithe, thin and with long legs. Hard to believe but the Barbie doll was first released in 1959.

Well over a billion dollars worth of Barbie dolls have been sold then.

And it’s still around today.

I’m happy to report that Barbie has led the way for young ladies who are interested in STEM, astronomy and all related sciences by now being represented as an astronomer.

If you drop by the hallowed showroom of Khan Scope Centre, you will see this on display:

Yes, it’s Astronomer Barbie complete with telescope and Star Map! What a delightful top with nebulaes abound. Yes, this Barbie is the trademark Blonde, but she could be any Colour in todays society.

Or size or shape. (Damn, I’m sure missing that Gus’s Fried chicken right about now.)

It really doesn’t matter.

Well, its Good Friday, so I’ll get back to my Hot Cross Buns, freshly baked and cup of coffee.

Happy Easter Folks!

Clear Skies,

Ray Khan
