Covered by every news agency around the world, from the Wall Street Journal to Al Jazeera to Vanity Fair, and as we’ve all heard by now, last month, three former military officials told Congress that they believe the government knows much more about UFOs than it is telling the public. While this was definitely not news to those of us who have been looking into the mystery for decades, there was still something remarkable about that hearing.

First, the witnesses seemed, by all accounts, to be solid and credible. Second, they came forward with the blessing of the military, and third, the entire US Congress took them seriously with no dissenters. It just felt different than the lip service we’ve been dished up in the past.

But the most remarkable aspect of the hearing, in the opinion of this reporter, was the total bi-partisan agreement among the entire congress members present that it’s high time for more transparency regarding UFO/UAP events and interactions on our planet.

“The sheer number of reports, whistleblowers, and stories of unidentified anomalous phenomena should raise real questions and warrant investigation and oversight. And that’s why we are here today,” said Rep. Robert Garcia, the top Democrat on the subcommittee, as he seemed to speak for the entire committee.

It reminds me of something President Ronald Reagan said before the United Nations in 1987 as he spoke longingly, almost wistfully, for an alien invasion that he felt would unite us, earthlings.

“Perhaps we need some outside universal threat to make us recognize this common bond. I occasionally think how quickly our differences worldwide would vanish if we faced an alien threat from outside this world.”

Here we are 36 years later, united (at least in Congress on that day), eagerly awaiting the evidence. By all indications, we are closer than we’ve ever been to disclosure, and it looks like President Reagan just might’ve been right—hopefully not the invasion part… just the uniting part.

Release the evidence!

Last month the entire city of Roswell embraced its storied roots once again in a three-day UFO Festival (June 30-July 2) featuring lots of fun events for the whole family and some of our most notable UFO experts and speakers.

KGRAdb was there for the whole thing and snagged interviews from many of your favorite personalities, answering the questions we’re all curious about. Watch for those interviews soon appearing on KGRAdb.com!

In this editor's opinion, the Roswell incident is the best-known and most well-documented UFO case in history.

It happened during the summer of 1947, a time when the world was gripped with both fascination and fear of extraterrestrial life. After all, the first (publicized) modern UFO sighting had happened just weeks before, in June, when pilot Kenneth Arnold reported seeing nine unidentified flying objects over Mount Rainier, Washington. This event heralded a wave of UFO sightings across the United States, fueling public interest in the possibility of alien visitation.

The Incident

In early July 1947, a rancher named W.W. “Mac” Brazel discovered unusual debris scattered across his property about 75 miles northwest of Roswell, New Mexico. The debris comprised metallic fragments, flexible I-beams bearing strange symbols, and thin, foil-like materials. Brazel reported his findings to the local authorities, who in turn notified the nearby Roswell Army Air Field (RAAF).

An investigation was conducted under the command of Colonel William Blanchard, and, On July 8, 1947, the RAAF issued a press release stating that they had recovered a “flying disc.” The Roswell Record snapped up the story for their front-page headline article, along with a photo of Major Jesse Marcel displaying some of those strange materials. However, the very next day, a higher-ranking officer, General Roger Ramey, held a press conference and retracted the initial statement. Ramey asserted that the debris was, in fact, from a weather balloon, sparking immediate public skepticism.

Explanations and Investigations

Let’s have a look at the possible theories out there:

  1. Weather Balloon Theory: The official explanation given by the military at the time, asserting that the debris was from a classified weather balloon used for Project Mogul, a top-secret project designed to detect Soviet nuclear tests.

  2. Military Aircraft Accident: Some researchers propose that the debris resulted from a classified military aircraft accident, and the weather balloon explanation served as a convenient cover.

  3. Psychological Warfare Experiment: A minority view posits that the incident was an experiment in psychological warfare to gauge public reactions to UFO-related news.

  4. UFO Crash: The extraterrestrial hypothesis suggests that an alien spacecraft crashed in Roswell, and the government engaged in a cover-up to hide the truth of alien contact.

In 1994, the U.S. Air Force released a report titled “The Roswell Report: Fact vs. Fiction in the New Mexico Desert,” which concluded that the debris was from Project Mogul and not an extraterrestrial craft because…. Of course, they did!

In 1996, while working on a paranormal television news magazine called Strange Universe, we ran across a new Roswell witness who had been the accountant for the Roswell base. He told us that, as he was in charge of accounts payable, he had authorized payment for “tiny” coffins. This was also confirmed by Roswell mortician, the late Glenn Dennis.

The Roswell UFO incident remains an enduring mystery continuing to attract widespread public interest. Why, indeed, the very name of the town is now and forever linked to the idea that we are indeed being visited.

Something happened out there.

The historic Shanley Hotel is nestled in the foothills of the Shawangunk Mountains of New York. Its past is full of stories of the many visits from the rich, famous… and infamous. After all, it was once a bordello, and it seems some of their satisfied customers have simply never left and are still seen lingering in the hallways by visitors there.

But the old Shanley has certainly also seen more than its share of horrific events, as well. From devastating fires to freak accidents and many deaths, the families who made this place their home were no strangers to tragedy. So many of those sorrowful figures from days gone by are thought to be among the spirits that remain.

Digging into the history and mystery, the intrepid RISEUP paranormal investigations group headed by Ken De Costa decided to take on a full survey of this site.

Following is Ken’s report on what they observed. They were not disappointed.

On June 16th, 2023, the Rhode Island Society members for the Examination of Unusual Phenomena (RISEUP) paid a visit to the Shanley Hotel in Napanoch, NY. Long considered a haven of strange activity and some tragic backstories, no one of the six investigators – save for one – had set foot in the hotel, so expectations were tempered about what we might encounter there.

In this instance, previous claims were found to have substance as we experienced significant interaction during our overnight stay.

In what is termed “The Séance Room,” we were assisted by “The Paranormal Couple” Cody DesBiens and Satori Hawes in conversing with two spirits, using their remarkable “tapping method.” One is the man the hotel bears its name, James Shanley, and the other is the son of the current owner, who passed away in a tragic accident a year ago. In both cases, messages were essentially “tapped out” on the floor using the alphabet in doing so.

On the third floor, a trip wire proximity sensor was used to gauge the potential movement of any entities in a hallway toward the investigators. These are not set off by our movements, as was tested before their engagement.  Significant results were demonstrated in requests for whoever might be present to make their way toward us.

Also on the third floor, the spirit of the previous owner, Sal Nicosia, who passed away in 2016, came through with a message for his surviving sons, Joe and Sal, Jr., who, in the comment section of the live YouTube feed, confirmed the information dispensed to them. There was also an entity that made their own presence known who was a documented child killer who spent a period of time at the hotel while committing that murder. He was summarily dismissed as we refused to give him any of our time.

In the former bordello, we witnessed some incredible communication as a former caretaker shared the tragic story of a 3-year-daughter who drowned in a well back in the 1800s, followed by co-host George Lopez’s (who was in the studio in Florida) late mother Beverley arriving through an open channel to ess information only her son would know. All of it was confirmed by George in a very emotional session.

The next stop was the basement, where the location of a trap door unknown to the current staff was revealed. At one point, this led to a speakeasy hidden away during Prohibition. Later a camera set down overnight by Bill Forte designed to activate with movement reacted strangely while the group slept upstairs.

This unusual movement continued at various intervals through the night.

Finally, overnight saw, one guest room’s deadbolt was found turned and locked when only the door handle was locked previously. Another investigator was awakened by a strange sound in her room that was recorded on audio. While in another suite, female singing inside the room directly into the ear of one of us was distinct and fairly loud.

Ken De Costa co-hosts “Dead Air” alongside George Lopez on KGRA. They don’t just talk about ghosts on the radio. They are some of the most knowledgeable and successful ghost hunters around, leading RISEUP investigations with years of experience properly investigating the unknown.

Ancient Egypt 1450 BC -- After conquering the ancient Nubian city of Napata, Thutmose III had a stele erected at the Temple of Amun, describing how a “star came down” to set fire to Thutmose’s adversaries. As cited by many ufologists via the Tulli Papyrus, a purported translation includes “circles of fire” and fish that “fell down from the sky.”
