Let me tell you what happened on the day I climbed a mountain.

I'll explain more about that in just a minute.

Let's say you want win the lottery sometime.

And you like to plan ahead.

So, over time you've bought a system (mine, I hope), planned your
2 play days each month, and are rubbing your hands with glee at
the possible outcome when riches rain down on you.

If you're typical of many folk with work and other
responsibilities, it's probably taken you 3 months to get it all
sorted out.

Huh?

Sorry, that's entirely the wrong way to go about it.

And a waste of time.

Because goal planning rarely works the way you want it to.

It usually ends up taking a long time to accomplish.

Instead, change your thinking. Speed up the way you do things.

Let me explain...

A planned goal often means doing a series of carefully
thought-out steps until you reach the end after a long time.

Like climbing a mountain.

Usually first you get some training to aclimatize your body. That
might take months.

Then you buy the equipment, learn to use it over time, get better
and better.

And hopefully when you have accomplished all the steps, you might
be ready in a year or two.

One of our supersportsmen, cricketer Adam Parore, succeeded in
climbing Mt Everest last week. He admitted it was an arduous and
relentless struggle for him that took many months of training and
preparation.

And this for a guy in his thirties at the peak of his fitness.

Sure, some planning is needed for the big stuff, but not as much
as you think.

I climbed a mountain too once, many years ago, with my
30-year-old son.

No, nothing like Everest.

We didn't have climbing boots, oxygen masks or full cold weather
gear.

It helped that the mountain was only 2,200 meters high (7,200
feet). And we quite didn't reach the top.

But here's how we did it.

We rushed at it.

We eyeballed the mountain, weighed up the risks, and simply went
for it.

Halfway up we got into snow.

Further up a blizzard came along. No view to speak of.

But we chatted cheerfully to each other, made light of the
problems, and soldiered on.

What stopped us was the monotony of it all.

The mountain face looked the same white no matter how high we
climbed, so around lunchtime we set back down.

This time we slid and partly ran down the snow and scree slopes,
jumping and whooping.

It was fun, and we were back in a fraction of the time it took to
go up.

As we rested at the bottom in the tussocks (I had a long snooze,
being rather tired after the effort), we agreed it was indeed a
lot of fun.

Imagine what we could have done with a serious goal.

After a year of training, we might have got the courage to follow
through.

Instead, we took an educated gamble, spent a day to figure it
out, and had the most fun together getting up there.

Sometimes goals stand in the way.

The preparation and rules that goal-setting involves can often
restrain you.

The same principles apply when you play lotto.

If most of your time is spent preparing, planning and plotting,
my quick answer is - fergeddaboutit.

Jump in.

Scale the lotto mountain by taking a run at it.

Don't worry about finding the best play, the best day. I do that
for you.

Just get in and make your move.

Put some munney down and play the game that's close at hand.

But do it quick.

The next game could be the one that catapults you into a new
world, a new lifestyle. Because constant winnings CAN change your
life.
