Around 2020, a group of powerhouse authors from genres like urban fantasy, paranormal romance, and cozy mystery, came together to create and promote this label—“Paranormal Women’s Fiction,” or PWF. The idea? Carve out a space where older heroines had their own supernatural spotlight.
We published our first market report on PWF in 2021. Since then, we've tracked the evolution of the genre—through its rise, peak, and now, a period of visible transition.
