Resources You Need—Walking-Working Surfaces

In the past year, OSHA has completely overhauled the walking and working surfaces regulation. While it may not be obvious, these changes apply to each and every printing operation, because it affects every place an employee stands, walks, or climbs. Not only has OSHA changed specifications for ladders and fall protection, but they have added several documentation requirements. It is important to understand the requirements so your company can avoid crippling citations.
Printing Industries of America’s Environmental, Health, and Safety Team has created a dedicated webpage to educate you on the revisions and provide tools for compliance. You will find informative articles on the major sections of the regulation along with webinars providing more detail. Visit Walking-Working Surfaces website to learn more.
The EHS team has also created OSHA compliance checklists to guide you in evaluating your work areas based on the revised regulation. Members can download the OSHA compliance checklists for free from the PIA store. The checklists and related articles are $29 for non-members.

If you would like more information or assistance with your compliance needs, contact the EHS team at 412-259-1794 or email ehs@printing.org.
