Register Today for the OSHA Compliance for Printing Workshop

We are proud to announce a second OSHA Compliance for Printing Workshop! Due to the success of our first workshop in October of 2017, we will host another workshop April 25-26 at PIA Headquarters in Warrendale, PA in partnership with Specialty Graphic Imaging Association. This hands-on, comprehensive workshop will give participants an understanding of OSHA regulations, explain the required elements of written programs, and prepare participants for OSHA inspections. In addition to this valuable information, everyone in attendance will walk away with an OSHA compliance package with written program templates, our popular OSHA Primer publication, and other valuable resources.

The workshop is only open to 15 participants and spots are filling quickly. Register today.

Interactive Show Towel Map

In 2014, USEPA issued regulations addressing the classification and management standards for solvent contaminated wipes. Now, under the federal regulations, disposable and reusable shop towels are not classified as hazardous waste, if managed properly. Unfortunately, since this rule is deregulartory, each state must adopt it before a printing company can follow the new regulation. Printing Industries of America's EHS team has created an interactive map to help companies determine if their state has adopted this regulation. We even have management fact sheets to make sure companies handle their shop towels with ease and remain in compliance! View our map on our hazardous waste page.
Air Emission Reporting Season

Now that 2017 has ended, this means another year of reporting is upon us. Many printing operations are required to have state or local agency air permits. That means they require companies to track their air emissions and submit reports to a government agency. Air emission calculations can be confusing, and reporting is daunting and time consuming. Let PIA's EHS team take the headache out of compliance. Simply submit your monthly usage data and safety data sheets (SDSs) and you will receive monthly compliance spreadsheets and an annual report ready to submit to the agency. Injury and Illness Statistics for 2016

Injuries and illnesses in the printing industry took a turn for the worse in 2016. In the latest data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics covering fiscal year (FY) 2016 (October 1, 2015 to September 30, 2016), the injury and illness rate per 100 full-time employees has increased. Each year, the EHS team compiles data from OSHA on reported injuries and illnesses. Interested to see how your company matches up to the industry? View the industry rates from 2014 to 2016 here.
