Hello Friend
The Ascot Challenge Cup was a case of close, but not close enough. My two main fancies finished 3rd 16/1 and a 6th. The shortlist of 5 also highlighted the 20/1 second.. which in effect I talked myself out of. That nearly ended in disaster! :)
Onto today where there are a few things of interest...
1. The Munster National.. I have gone to war with three chasers in this. Hopefully I can match the success of the Kerry National where we found the 1,3,4. Time will tell!
2. The big race from the Czech Republic should also provide some entertainment later on. Hopefully all runners and riders come home safe and sound. Below is a preview from a friend, Martin Pennington, who knows far more about Czech racing than I do... (the race is on RUK, or online in links below)
His verdict..
I am siding with Ange Guardian who has been lined up for this race all year and is currently around the 9/1 mark with the local bookmakers. Josef Vana has his usual strong hand again this year and with his son in the saddle the selection can go one better than when winning last year, with last years winner Charme Look and French raider Virtus D’Estruval taken to fight it out for second. Despite Jan Faltjesek’s choice, preference is for Charme Look, who has a good record around here while of those currently featuring at bigger prices in the market the veteran Universe Of Gracie may make the frame for a third time.
