Subject: York Pointers Inside

Hello Friend

Below there are some post race thoughts on our horses post Worcester, but before that some 'York Chat'.

Hopefully some of you took note of the 'Dante Meeting Trainer Angles' which had a 9/1 winner yesterday, thanks to Mr Haggas.

That takes 'qualifiers' to... 4/8,6p, +7.96

It doesn't always go that well of course but they've highlighted winners which is always a positive.

There are 6 potential qualifiers today...

2.25 – Grande Dame (JG, 5/1<, JG/FD) 9/4

2.25 – Perfect News (WH) 4/1

3.35 – Stradivarius (JG, 5/1<, JG/FD) 6/5

4.10 – Achnamara (MJ, 12/1<) 33/1

4.10 – Pons Aelius (MJ, 12/1<) 11/1

4.10 – Super Stars (MJ, 12/1<) 14/1

Hopefully there's another winner or two there somewhere. Mark Johnston has farmed that 4.10 in recent years. They all have a well fancied Charlie Appleby horse to contend with but fingers crossed. Achnamara looks like falling down on the 'odds' criteria, but the other two are now both 12/1. We shall see. Today's racing at York looked a right old puzzle.

M Dods York Handicappers… (20/1< best)

4.45 – Challet 6/1 / Danielsflyer 16/1 / Fleetwood Pier 20/1

5.20 – Red Warning 18/1

I'd been meaning to flag Dods and his York handicappers to members before this week, but typically didn't do so before Dakota Gold won at a big price. Gulp.

I've no idea how Brunch didn't win yesterday but in recent years it's become clear that Dods appears to target these York handicaps all season long..

a micro to note...

Since start of 2016, all his York handicappers sent off 20/1 or shorter (0/15,1p bigger)…

114 bets / 23 wins / 56p / 20% sr / +71 SP / +115 BFSP / +63 (betfair place market) / BF AE 1.86.

That's +178 points 1 point win and 1 point place at Betfair SP. Madness really. Now, it could well have just been a good few years and the next 2/3 seasons will drop off at some point, given how competitive the racing is. And it will depend whether he's got similar types coming through the ranks. But still, worth noting.

We shall see if any of his four today can get the job done.

Worcester thoughts...

Well as you can see from the photo at the top of the email, the RTP Syndicate masses had a great day out. Both horses, and Jack, came back safe and sound which is the main thing.

The Plumber was a bit disappointing. If running his race I expected him to win that, but he hasn't for some reason and we're still not sure why.

Amy is doing some tests to check nothing internal we can't see. He'd worked the house down on Saturday but something was up with him. Jack thought the hood may now have switched him off too much, he didn't give the same feel as his debut and was 'flat' from 4f out. He had an off day. Maybe it was the ground, which was too soft for him (I thought it would be ok but maybe not), or something agitated him. He was blowing plenty post race which was odd, a chance he lost confidence for some reason, held his breath (that's a thing apparently!) and didn't get enough oxygen in his lungs at the right point, further scaring himself. Maybe he 'bounced' (2nd run back after a break, where the first run takes plenty out of them) but I'm not sure.

Anyway, that's horses for you! Still at the beginning of an exciting journey with him and it will novice hurdling next.

Proud Mari - well she's run a stormer, possibly unlucky not to win, but she's some horse in the making. A monster effort given her inexperience, the right two near her, front three miles clear. She's now off on her holidays and has us all dreaming. She'll give us some great days out next season, with any luck a 'Saturday horse' in the making. Maybe she'll win a Grade 1 like her mother one day. This is a game for the dreamers!

We're luck to have assembled a great bunch of owners, who know how to have a great day out and enjoy each others company. Watching 'your' horse with likeminded racing fans - well it doesn't get much better :) Worcester's O&T spread was very good also.

Onwards... I'll tell you about the new horse at some point soon, but existing owners get first refusal and nearly 40% has already been sold in less than 24 hours. I do need to email those on the free 'syndicate' email list also.

Have a great day and best of luck with any bets at York and elsewhere,

All the best,

Josh
