Subject: Today's Winners Inside? + Help to Find Your Own

Hello Friend

Hopefully you're having a decent week - it's a bit damp here in Suffolk and it will be interesting to see if Newmarket goes on the softer side in the coming days.

In today's email there's a few things for you to muse over, plus a few horses of interest that 'qualify' against what's turning into a profitable and straight forward strategy for the flat (+47 points BFSP so far since June 1st)

Do you like finding your own winners?

On Monday I ran a poll on twitter that received 381 votes or so. (you can follow me here>>>)  I wanted to know how many people 'just' followed tipsters against those who enjoy trying to solve the puzzle themselves.

Only 3.9%, 15 people or so out of 381, 'just' follow tipsters. I thought it may be higher than that.

38%, 145, 'just' like finding their own winners and the rest, 58%,  take a mixed approach, following tipsters while also trying to find their own winners.

I found that interesting and to a point comforting as a large part of my approach is to try and post research/info/musings that may help you solve the puzzle, as well as some tips - although there's many better tipsters than I, certainly at the moment. And I try to point you towards some of the good ones.

For those of you who enjoy solving the puzzle i've three new posts/reports of interest...

This week's Micro Monday post, with some pointers for an under-the-radar jockey who's worth noting, even more so if you like betting on the all-weather.

You can read that HERE>>>

Tracker Tuesday - four more 'hot form' horses to note, that's HERE>>

Newmarket July Cup Meeting: A few micros for Charlie Appleby, Mark Johnston and Aidan O'Brien, who usually have a decent week. Plus a jockey to note...

You can read this brief report HERE>>>

Tomorrow I will post up some trends/trainer pointers for a few big handicaps over the coming days, which will be my main focus.

Onto Today...

I'll be hoping the following run well/may win...

  • 1.40 Ripon : Kings Castle 6/
  • 8.10 Newbury: Make It Rain 9/1 / Dubai Quality 11/2
Those horses hit my stats research and appear in either section 2 or 3 of the daily posts. They're also 'Top 4' in HorseRaceBase ratings, denoted by a H1/H2/H3/H4 next to their name within the post.

HRB 'top 4' rated win 63% or so of all flat handicaps and they're a decent guide. When combined with my unique stats research, so far this season, such qualifiers are now...

63 bets / 18 wins / 34 p / 29% SR/ +43.25 (8am odds/non bog) / +47.33 BFSP

I started backing them systematically a couple of weeks back for £5s (1 point win), and i've everything crossed they'll continue ticking along for the rest of the Flat season. In truth that ROI is a bit silly, as is the win SR, so there could be a few losers due, but still, there's a reason to swing by the blog daily, as 400 or so of you regularly do, to find said 'qualifiers'. Given the nature of the approach i'm excited to see if they can continue pulling in the profits - the HRB ratings are a 'constant' and very good. So, here's hoping.
