Subject: 🟢🏇Saturday's ITV Big Race Trends, Trainers & Shortlists

Good Evening, Friend,

Saturday's ITV Big Race Trends, Trainers & Shortlists...

This week I've had a look at two big handicaps from Haydock, both on ITV, using the same approach that helped me home in on four of the eight Royal Ascot handicaps I attacked.

At the link below, you can find my trends pointers, the shortlists against those profiles, and horses representing trainers who've previously won the race (always worth a look, assuming they may have targeted the race again)... hopefully they may help us all land on a winner or two this weekend...

A fun if frustrating weekend...

We had a great day on Saturday in Newmarket, a glorious sunny day, and 40 of our owners enjoyed Amy's hospitality before we all headed track-side and onto a curry later in the evening, via the pub. Great fun had by all. I'm not sure there are many better spots than The July Course when the weather behaves. Although my punting wasn't great on this occasion, all down hill after the first, alas.

In terms of the horses...well a bit frustrating... Kaleb's jockey decided to ride against specific instructions to have him handy and stoke him up (he needs switching on early) and then proceeded to put in his worst ever round of jumping, having been held up, he never looked happy. An irritating race, not helped by Bangor over-watering, jockeys coming back splattered in mud, plenty of proper soft parts, and patchy in places (it was meant to be summer 'good' !) - we think our lad may have lost some confidence with his footing on the way round, who knows. He should have been a clear 2nd but nothing was beating the winner on the day, an incredible performance really. His guts got him 3rd and he remains in form.

Onto Newmarket and our Tequila Rose wasn't good enough, for all we don't think that was her true running, maybe going too hard too soon, out of her comfort zone and a chance she found the ground quick enough. That didn't affect getting near the top 6, but disappointing not to see her finishing off her race, I'm not convinced she was 100% but that's horse's for you, it was the right time to roll the dice, and into nursery handicaps we go. We think she may come into her own over 7f and then 1m in time, we'll have some fun finding out. She's got a great attitude at her level, onwards.

Our long weekend finished at Worcester on Monday, where the hurdle experiment with Getaway Glory didn't quite work. He was an EW bet to nothing and we really thought he may take some stopping - I didn't count on them crawling round, he over raced a bit and simply didn't have the gears to quicken from 3 out. He needs a much stronger pace with horses coming back at him, is evidently a better chaser, but is only 5. He shapes as if he'll relish a much stiffer test in time but sadly at this time of year you don't get many races beyond 2m7f or any stiff tracks. Still, he's run four times for us... 1, 3, 2, 3... we can't complain at that! He's got plenty more chases in him in seasons to come, when it all drops right. He's a lovely horse, a proper trier. Again, another cracking day out with some of his owners.
