Subject: Haydock Poke... Up Helly Aa King to win?

Good Morning Friend

We all know it would be a rare thing indeed for me to flag two winners in two days within these emails, but I'll try my best...

Gran Luna got the job done yesterday for my 'morning musings' taking those 6/17,10p, +13 points (1 point win) since I started a few weeks back. I thought it best I try and use my own daily blog content better than I had been, in addition to my 3m+ tips, and so far so good.

You can find today's musings below, taken from the members' post, as of 9am. The horse was 8s, but is being backed, 11/2 in places still which may be tight enough but 4 places to play with...

3.15 Hayd – Up Helly AA King 8/1 – one from Adam’s list today and having had a quick flick through all those listed above inc the stats qualifiers, he looks the most interesting to my eyes at the prices. 8s does look big here. We know the yard are flying, (5/16, 9p last 14 days, 68% rivals beaten), the horse arrives hard fit and in form, which will be no bad thing in what promises to be a war of attrition, especially if more rain falls.

This horse relishes heavy, 3/12, 8p in all handicap chases, but 3/8,6p when the mud is flying. He’s doing a couple of things differently here as a reason for improvement – a drop in class, from what was an ok vets chase here LTO, well, probably as good as vets chase you’ll find outside of the Sandown finale, and he gets the drop in trip which Adam thinks will suit – and that looks to be the case, all of his wins are up to 2m5f. I think he stays 3m, which will be no bad thing today, but this drop back could be ideal, if he can keep tabs – he could be staying on best of these come the end, when they’re spread out all over the north west, many long having given up. His last race here was over 26f and he only gave way from 2 out, and over the last. He has course form and some ok northern C2 form to his name, especially that Carlisle run 3 starts back. He ticks a lot of boxes here I thought and I expect a big run, with all the usual caveats. There are 4 places with most bookies… IF he runs his race, I struggle to see him out of the frame here today and he sets a decent bar in conditions.

Up Helly Aa was flagged by Adam on his visit to Haydock, with the following note which was repeated on today's blog, and that I used as my 'way in' above...

Up Helly Aa King – AN 1.12.21 -Shaped well behind some classy rivals, big lengthy chaser may be better at short of 3m.

That's all for today, fingers crossed. But whatever he does, do keep the Alexander yard onside in the next week or two, in fine form.
