Subject: Cheltenham Day 1 Pointers

Good Evening Friend

A later than usual email from me, mainly as I forgot earlier on.

But I've a few items of interest that may (or may not!) help you enjoy Friday's action from Cheltenham and indeed over the weekend.

First up, I've another cracking free magazine from my friends over at Free Racing Tips.

(if you've never read them, this was the Cheltenham Festival magazine, as an example... HERE>>> they're not all as in depth of course, but they're decent)

They usually go down very well and you know the drill by now - you sign up if you want something well produced and informative to read, they email you the online magazine, and then you unsubscribe from the email list if you so wish, or stay on it and they'll no doubt send you some free tips etc.

This free guide covers the 3 feature races:
  • The Paddy Power Handicap Chase
  • The Paddy Power Gold Cup
  • The Unibet Greatwood Hurdle
If you’ll be betting on any of these three races, you should check this guide out.

You’ll find the stats and trends from past winners inside, big indicators as to what kind of horse you should be looking to back this year.

Trainer Pointers

A couple of days ago I sent you to my November Meeting trainer pointers post.

If you missed it, you can find it HERE >>>

The 'qualifiers' for Day 1 are listed below. They may be a useful 'way in' - whether they work systematically, time will tell. Every trainer has had the odd blank year and it won't be much fun if a few of them do so again. Hopefully they point the way to the odd winner, and your lucky pin may land on them... do refer to the research above also... as always these are trainer habits and the angles are nothing to do with the ability of the horse, how well handicapped they are or how suitable conditions are...

1.10 – An Tailliur (Jonjo) , Neon Moon (DP), Paricolor (DP)

1.45 – Bathiva (FOB), Hatcher (DS, 6/1<) , Magic Saint (PN)

2.20 – My Drogo (DS, 6/1<)

3.30 – Kayf Hernando (DS, 6/1<)

4.00 – Percys Word (DS, 6/1<) , Samba Dancer (FOB)

Finally... for your notebook... within the Members' posts I've started flagging those horses running that pro punter of the north, Adam Norman, has highlighted in his exclusive weekly RTP  updates. They're a gold mine of unique information, using his track side paddock eye.

I copy his notes into my HorseRaceBase account/notes, and simply copy/paste them into the daily posts as below, the evening before the next day's racing. 'AN' stands for 'Adam Norman' and the date the horse ran/the notes refer to.

There's a few running at HQ on Friday and a few snippets of interest that may help, both tomorrow and moving forwards...

Adam Norman’s Notes

1.10 Chelt –

Finisk River – AN 14.10.21 Big enough for fences but spent far too long over timber and lacked confidence on this second outing over larger obstacles. Not progressing.

Asserted – AN 25.10.21 – Carrying bundles of condition on stable debut and very weak in the betting, looked very rusty and didn’t show enough immediate promise. Expect another quiet run or two but the market will be your best guide.

1.45 Chelt –

Stolen Silver – AN 16.10.21 – Quirky looking, should make a chaser and jumped well in front. Should improve fitness wise for the outing but now in the hands of the assessor as this didn’t take much winning.

Magic Saint – AN 29.10.21 – Didn’t look fully wound up.

3.30 Chelt –

Gelino Bellow – AN 24.10.21 – Handy, athletic and more forward physically than most. The market got this very right.

Kayf Hernando – AN 21.10.21 Good size, looked as though the run would bring him on. Did well to win in the circumstances.

4.00 Chelt –

Kavanaghs Cross – AN 14.10.21 OK sort with size, looked straight enough. Jumped and travelled notably well and had every chance from the last. Stamina didn’t look an issue but profile is frustrating and needs to get head in front to dispel doubts over attitude. Likely to be well handicapped.

Maninsane – AN 16.10.21 – Not much appeal physically but has the size to jump fences.

I think that's enough for this email! As always a menu of options to ponder as you see fit - a magazine to read while sipping your favourite tipple/avoiding Emmerdale, and maybe some trends to help shortlist. Some trainer stats qualifiers to muse over, they can be creatures of habit of course. And the insight of a pro, with tracker horses/notes you won't find elsewhere and that are invaluable moving forwards.

Enjoy what's left of your Thursday evening and best of luck with any bets tomorrow as always, and over the weekend,

Josh
