I can’t believe I didn’t always like Ante-post betting - I think when you’re younger a season seems like a longer time! 😆
Nowadays I’m very interested in ante-post betting, not only is there a lot of value on offer but it's less volatile than your day to day betting where luck plays a bigger role.
I’ve made a profit with my ante-post bets in each of the last four seasons now for MatchdayProfits members.
We’ve had two winning season five folds @ 11.45 and 20.53 along with a winning antepost treble @ 19.43.
Last season’s Acca fell foul of the ante-post settlement furore when the SPL leg was settled as a loser despite being odds on with most firms (It still returned a profit for many however with 4 from 5 right!)
This season I have another multiple bet involving 5 selections that will return £375 from a £30 stake if it comes in.
I also have a “Bigger Priced Trixie”, which I’m sharing with you below.
Bigger Priced Trixie
German Bundesliga - Top 4 Finish, Monchengladbach @ 2.75
Gladbach look well-positioned to maintain their top 4 placing in the German top flight. Manager Marco Rose looks to build on his first season at the helm and having played under the likes of Jurgen Klopp, Thomas Tuchel during his playing days it's no wonder that he's started well. Having kept hold of Alessane Plea and Marcus Thuram and added loanees to the squad they have so far been left in a seemingly better position than that of their top 4 rivals RB Leipzig and Leverkusen who have seen their stars joining Chelsea (Werner and Havertz) and Monaco (Volland)
Premier League - Aston Villa to be relegated @ 2.75
As I covered above Villa were lucky to stay up. They have ditched "sporting director" Jesus Garcia Pitarch over the summer who was presumably responsible for their somewhat failed transfer policy which saw them collect only 35pts last season. Basically they need their new men to hit the ground running this time around which is easier said than done in the highly competitive Premier League. That would mean Watkins or another striker getting into double figures and Grealish having another blinder of a season and staying fit and fresh through a hectic schedule. Both of those things happening looks more likely not to happen than to happen and 40pts therefore seems like a difficult target for them. 50% of clubs that finished 17th the previous season went down the next and Villa secured less than the average of 38pts clubs in 17th normally acquire.
Italy Serie A - Inter @ 3.0
This last selection is a toss up between Inter and Liverpool at similar odds. Inter have stronger motivation having not won the Scudetto since 2010. They scored more goals and conceded less than Juve last season and also recorded a higher Expected Pts total than the Champions. It's hard to understand why a club like Juve would appoint Pirlo as manager only a week after making him U23 coach, and the perception is that maybe they are holding out on someone else for the gig. Either way, Inter are all in with Conte who has previously managed Juventus and Chelsea to league success in four of his last six seasons in club management.
