Good Afternoon, Friend
Do you fancy being a racehorse owner in France?
I hope you had a great weekend and enjoyed Epsom. I had four handicap pokes on Saturday, all in the places, the last of which particularly unlucky, and while no good for my single win bets, a £5EW fourfold paid +£159, to ease my annoyance!
Of course, I should have just stuck with Aidan O'Brien and 'tipped' all runners sent off 7/1< SP, as per my free Epsom trainer stats I sent out: Such runners, including the Coronation, Oaks and Derby winners pulled in +11.5 points to SP (3/7,4p), including a tasty forecast in The Oaks. Sometimes this game really is that simple! (but sadly not all the time!) John Gosden fired in a 9/1 winner for his angles also, a few other nice places flying around. They did their job and hopefully helped you land on a winner or two.
Royal Ascot - I need to pull together my annual handicap trends report for this meeting, which helped me pull in +62 points profit or so on the blog at least year's meeting. I'd bite your hand off to repeat those stats of course for all that may be a tough ask, the sort of meeting which can go one of two ways when playing in the handicaps but I'll be trying my best. My last winter jumps season, Oct>end Punchy, pulled in +80 points or so, 22% ROI, however it's been a bit slow on my blog since then, now with Royal Ascot helping count down the weeks until October!! I like some top class flat handicaps, but the daily lower grade flat racing and small field summer jumps does get a bit grating at times!

Before all that, horserace ownership in France?
This will have little interest for many of you no doubt but I've been asking our existing owners about expanding our French string with Amy Murphy in Chantilly. She's banging in the winners and our two flat horses over there have won 52 000 Euros between them so far, from just 6 runs (1/6, 5 places)
The French prize money, including their French Premiums, give you a real chance of covering training fees as a worst case, but actually making some money as an owner, which is rather hard to do in the UK and generally not the main aim of course (generally lose 98p in every £1 spent). If you have a 2YO/3Yo qualified for French Premiums, they give you 75% on top of the allocated prize money, including for the placed horses. For 4YO+ it's 45% forever more.
So, we're going shopping again. This summer we will be buying at least one Yearling, but we're well on our way to having enough support to buy two, and maybe an older horse as well, such as Al Ameed.
Interested? If you'd seriously consider joining us, either in a yearling>2YO, or in an older horse, such as our Al Ameed (runs Saturday at Dieppe, do cheer him on), you can find out more (including costings) and register your interest, using the form below...
The plan with any 2YO would be to run them through to the end of their 3YO year (so 2 years), and then send them to the sales, likely with a reserve if they've been doing well. Of course, we would consider any substantial private offers made before that, and who knows, maybe we'll pick up a £30k yearling who sells for £200k+, we can but dream!
Those on this list will get first refusal in our next purchases...
