Subject: 🏇 Does owning a flat horse interest you?

Good Morning, Friend

Racing to Profit Syndicate Update & a New Flat Handicapper?

I hope this email finds you in good form. It's the quiet before the storm in our RTPS world- our winter jumpers could do with a prolonged storm, as the ground is so dry, with Pounds At The Time (Toby Lawes) ready to run, Buzz Iceclear (Mark Walford), Dixie Cowboy, Littletown Lad (both Sam England) and Windsor Wife not far behind, and Getaway Glory and Fond Farewell on their way back from injury (all three at Greenall & Guerriero). All our jumpers are young, unexposed and with their best days ahead of them, and if all goes to plan, all seven will be multiple winners this winter and beyond.

Mart and Al Ameed (France) will be running on the flat/AW through the winter months also, and it promises to be a busy and exciting time - unlike any previous winter season of ours. It is a big season for us, fingers crossed. We have two yearlings with Dylan Cunha to keep us dreaming over the winter, and soon to be two yearlings with Amy Murphy in France also, after they've spent their winters in Newmarket. Coolree and Spiritualism are not yet done for the year either. In sad news, we've had to retire our Give Me A Boom and Shandancer due to injury. Both will be just fine for another job and we are busy finding them much deserved forever homes.

Are you seriously interested in a new opportunity?

The wheel keeps turning in this racing game of ours and we're forever thinking where next. We now have 18 horses in training, with our immediate attention on this month's Tatts 'Horses In Training' sale and whether we have the support to roll the dice and buy a handicapper for the flat next season and beyond

If a flat handicapper interests you, unexposed, tough, hardy, to race plenty and who may get us to some big Saturdays, do read on.

The form below will assess potential interest for such a horse in the North with Sam England (the initial priority), Newmarket (Dylan Cunha), France (Amy Murphy) or elsewhere in Lambourn/Epsom.

The initial priority...

A flat horse with Sam & Jonny England, in Yorkshire, to predominantly race in 'the north'

We have two jumpers with Sam, Dixie Cowboy & Littletown Lad, a small yard where we feel at home and would like to grow even further over time, as we would with all our trainers.

Sam would keep 25% in any new flat purchase, the prospect of winning more prize money as a driver of course. This is always a big help and allows us to take more calculated risks, and one of the reasons that at this stage this is the priority, and the fact we don't as yet have a flat horse in the north.

While we really like Sam & Jonny and are excited about our journey ahead, we do only send horses to people who can train. Sam would now class herself as a dual-purpose trainer, and while jumping is in their heart, having turned attention more to the flat in recent seasons, results are starting to show. It makes economic sense for smaller yards to grow the flat string - flat horses do not get injured as much, they can run more often and the prize money can be better.

In the last year on flat/AW, Sam has trained 26 winners from 167 runners, 66 places (including wins). A 40% win and place SR, and a 17.86% win SR on the turf. An impact value of 1.69 in handicaps is very good, x1.69 more winners than par. So, whereas every 100 runners the par is for trainers to have 10 winners, Sam trains nearly 17. Sam and Jonny are a great team.

Some notable recent examples include Trilby, a five race maiden for George Boughey, bought for just £2k ,now a x5 winner for Sam (5/29 runs, 12p) , rising from a mark of 69 to 86, and winning £64k in just two seasons. (we wouldn't mind a Trilby!)

Jeez Bomb was purchased cheaply as a yearling, he's now 7/26, 15p in handicaps, nearly winning a C2 when last seen at Redcar.

Mark's Choice - wel his owners like moving him around, but when with Sam, 3/16,6p, rising from a mark of 69 to a high of 82, including winning a C2

Saligo Bay - and more recently, this lad. Picked up as a 7YO, having previously been trained by Roger Charlton and then Gary Moore. Both those did a solid job with him, winning five races over four seasons. However, he made his debut for Sam in January, and in those 10 months, has won x5 races (as many as the previous four seasons), on the flat, AW and over hurdles. 5/17,10p and +£62k for Sam in that time, last seen winning a C2 handicap hurdle at Market Rasen.

This team can source them, improve them, and do the job. They generally have a small string, 20-30 in at any one time, ensuring all horses get the individual attention they deserve. Sam relishes the challenge of getting into their minds and getting the best out of them, and their results, over both codes, suggest they do a fine job. Their horses tend to win multiple times. They're still young, hungry and going places. They do very well with 'value' purchases.

The Plan -

We will look to spend £15-25k, a solid budget that should allow us to buy something with upside potential and a bit of quality. Trilby has taken his owners to York a few times on big days, running with massive credit/placing, and we wouldn't mind such trips ourselves. We will look for an 'angle' in, and a horse who should improve with time. The plan will be to run on the turf primarily, but of course they may handle the AW. The primary objective is a horse for the flat, they could be a sprinter, they could be more of a stayer. If they are the latter, of course there could be the option to go jumping down the line, but that isn't the drive/aim at this stage.

If such a prospect seriously interests you, please complete our form below. Further costs are explained within the form.

Within this form there is also a section at the bottom to indicate an interest in such types, similar budget, but trained either in Newmarket (Dylan Cunha), France (Amy Murphy) or the possibility of Lambourn/Epsom.

This form doesn't tie you into anything of course, but do only complete it if seriously interested in the opportunities explained within. Please let us know your interest by pressing the big green button below...

As always, thanks for your time and consideration,

I should add, we will further assess options for new jumps horses in due course, but at the moment there is nothing planned on that front, not before Christmas anyway! The main priority on that score could be to add another with Toby Lawes, near Dorking, if we can.

If you have any questions, please do get in touch,

All the best,

Josh
