Summer is almost here in the UK!
And I can tell because it hasn’t stopped raining for about two weeks straight.
It’s more like a tropical monsoon season! But hey, we are British and used to it, so they say.

| Personally, I find it a little depressing, although I found sitting in the car for an hour at a local country park, on Saturday, rather productive. I wrote three chapters of my second novel (working title... The Deadly Legacy).
After that, the sun came out just long enough for me to enjoy a great walk through undulating fields of wild flowers, until I reached a smallish, but none the less foreboding pine forest which led out onto a lovely pond full of water lilies. |
| | After wiping a lichen-covered bench, I sat and gawped at my mud-sodden walking shoes feeling much more positive.
The sun burst through the clouds and cheered me up no end! Although you wouldn't think it by the Grizzly Adams picture.
Sounds like a chapter from a cosy crime novel!
So, in the spirit of trying to cheer everybody up (myself included) I have six goodies for you.

- Did the raunchy affair between the antagonist Ibrahim Benzar and the beautiful Katrina Osborne (trapped in a loveless relationship) raise an eyebrow? I hope I got their SEX scenes on a rich man's Yacht and in exotic locations, right?
- Did your heart go out to DI Blake when his only living child was kidnapped?
- Were the bad guys bad enough?
- Did the ending shock you?
Lastly,
I hope all the guys among you had a good father’s day. It’s been a tough time for my wife and I lately, as both our dads have been seriously ill, so much so we had to reschedule our holiday to Croatia. Giving them their cards meant a lot more than usual this year.
On a lighter note, I had to laugh at the card my fifteen-year-old daughter gave me.
She’s always harping on that I’m a tightwad.
Probably stems from my seventies upbringing: no mobiles, no computers, and 40p pocket money.
If you grew up in the 70s and 80s or before, I'm sure you can relate to this? If you didn't have it, you didn't miss it!
Anyway, the latest moan started at the cinema on Saturday night, because I refused to pay £6 for 80 pence worth of nacho’s covered in cheese, or £3.40 for a bag of revels that are a quid at the shop!
But that's teenagers for you!
The front of the card said: HANDS OFF THIS WALLET, inside were the moths, cobwebs and the message..
"To dad happy fathers day - TIGHT-A**E. Love from Emilie xxx" |

Ironically, I had to eat my words in the end, as I almost choked on the cheap popcorn we bought from our local Nisa.
I dashed from screen 4, leaving Taron Egerton belting out an Elton John classic, and dived into the shop for a small bottle of water costing £1.80.
Have to say both Bohemian Rapsody and Rocketman are superbly entertaining films!
