Subject:Ā Life updates, going on BuzzFeed and growth goals in October! šŸ˜Ž

Hello, hello, hello!

I went missing last month, but Iā€™m back.Ā

Iā€™ve always used this newsletter as a way to open up more on what itā€™s like to be a full-time content creator or ā€œinfluencerā€Ā - though I rarely ever use that term to introduce myself lol, it always sounded kinda weird to me.Ā

You guys know Iā€™ve been back in Sydney a while now but was just getting through my Hong Kong content. It was a great time to focus on tasks other than filming and editing. It gave myself the opportunity to pause, take a step back to reflect on what I've been doing, and also look at what I hope to do with my future content.Ā

With social media, I think thereā€™s always pressure to create content that will get more views, clicks and likes. Having said that, I think there is a lot of merit, and certainly personal satisfaction, when I create content that I personally enjoy. If youā€™ve been subscribed to my content from the very beginning, you may have noticed a slight shift in the content Iā€™m putting out. I am really enjoy creating vlog style content, and who knows, in a few years, I might shift again. I guess this is all part of figuring out my style right? Regardless, thank you so much for sticking with me! If you have any thoughts on this, Iā€™d love to hear it!

...a kind lady offered to take a photo for me. I'm still debating on putting this up on IG or not...

News to share!Ā

Oh boy, where to begin!Ā

September has been a great month so far. First weekā€™s upload saw Surfshark sponsoring us and that was amazing when I got their email, because Iā€™ve been using them for 2 years and they actually ignored me before when I asked if they would sponsor LOL.Ā

I also went on Buzzfeed to cook my childhood Shanghai stir fry noodles which was super exciting. I was equal parts nervous and excited to go on Buzzfeed, and I actually practiced making this dish multiple times at home before shoot day.(IĀ had so many plates of stir fry noodles that week hahaha). The video turned out really well - if you haven't seen it, you can watch it here:Ā

Iā€™ve got so much good food lined up for September. I canā€™t wait to show you all the great finds Iā€™ve been eating at, as well as all the happenings at home - like, I have a plant that hasnā€™t diedā€¦yet!Ā (fingersĀ crossed)

My attempt at a herb garden has long died and the succulent from a friend also diedā€¦my lucky bamboo I got from Newtownā€¦also died.Ā

I honestly donā€™t know how I killed bamboo and a succulent, the two most hardy low maintenance plants you could have. So Iā€™m super excited about my current one, if it stays alive for another month, I think it deserves a name. hahaha!Ā

Goals for OctoberĀ

Iā€™ve been posting more on Instagram and Tiktok after my Hong Kong trip. Itā€™s definitely a different type of storytelling Iā€™m still figuring out, but also enjoying a lot.Ā

Iā€™m really liking how short-form content is so direct and compact in its delivery. Itā€™s been great fun so far - filming with just my phone on the fly where ever I am. And I think itā€™s a great way to create more content and share more interesting stories with people.Ā

So my goal for October would be to experiment more with short videos and grow my Instagram and TikTok. If you haven't seen my series of Hong Kong reels, watch it here:
