Subject: 🌈Friend, LGBTQ & A Meeting Notes

Pilgrim Church LGBTQ+ & Allies

Thank you to everyone who attended the LGBTQ+ & Allies Planning Meeting on October 26th.

Friend, here are the meeting notes.

Best,

On behalf of the LGBTQ+ & Allies Team
Pilgrim Congregational Church

October 26th, 5 - 6:15 PM Zoom Meeting Notes:

  • The group discussed our benevolence and decided to add a donation to the work that Lucy Nanny is doing with Transgender people. We will continue to pay our dues to the Coalition of Welcoming Churches to ensure our online presence remains strong. We will maintain our support for the Lighthouse Foundation. Finally, we will reduce our donation to Night Ministry, but continue to do our Valentine's Fundraiser, splitting the goods (gift cards, etc.) between Night Ministry and Task Force.

  • We agreed to proceed with the plans for the live theatre show "The Revolutionists" on March 22nd. Rather than try a Sunday night, we will host a dinner right after church, asking for a $10 donation, with the performance following immediately. (This is staged by the same theatrical group that presented "5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche" at Pilgrim recently.) We will work to pull in the League of Women Voters as well as other civic groups to help draw a crowd.

  • We discussed the possible problems with low attendance at the Bobby Jo Valentine concert. We acknowledged that Tower Hill weekend may have been a factor, as well as the very Christian content of his music. He is less well-known than some other artists that we have hosted, and we feel that he did not prioritize marketing the show.

  • We discussed adding some Queer focused activities and education regarding history in October. Basically, we will meet later to see what this may look like.

  • We acknowledged that it may take some time to evolve this more inclusive calendar as we see what we have time and energy for.

  • We discussed leaving some space in the calendar, as we anticipate needing time and energy to engage in fighting legislation and addressing other issues that may arise this coming year.
