A few notes about this summer's Covid outbreak. It's clearly blowing up around the country, with over 40 states showing an upswing in cases over the past month. The good news is it seems to be mild in most cases, and I really am only suggesting Paxlovid if you are over 65 and consider yourself fairly medically frail (or symptoms are severe). For most people (finally including me 3-4 weeks ago) you'll get by without Paxlovid, as it has many drug interactions and in some cases can actually prolong your contagious and symptomatic period with a rebound infection. The CDC has revised its guidance again to suggest that you can be out and about after you are clearly improving and have not had any fever for 24 hours. Usual cautions about being in an indoor room with others apply, and it may take several weeks for your test to become negative again.
Lastly a reminder, we'll have a second open house to say so long to Kazumi on Friday July 12th,12-2PM. Feel free to drop in before she heads back to Japan. Otherwise, her last day at our office is July 26th. You can continue to stay in touch with her via email, kschoen@drbiemer.com after she moves to Japan.
Thanks and have a great summer,
Jim, Julia and the crowd in Suite 863 |
