LINC teacher is ISSofBC’s first 30-year service awardee
LINC teacher Janet Massaro made history when she was honoured this fall for chalking up 30 years of service at ISSofBC’s annual All-Staff Meeting. Close to 300 of Janet’s colleagues gave her a rousing standing ovation when she went onstage to receive her award from CEO Patricia Woroch.

Three respected authors, researchers and public policy experts engaged with the public at ISSofBC Welcome Centre this fall to explore the topic “Does Immigration Matter?” for the inaugural CLOSER LOOK speaker series. 
Tech professionals advance networking skills
Dynamic panel discussions on elevator pitches, networking as an introvert, mentoring for youth and more were part of ISSofBC’s Technology Together: Professional Networking in the Tech Sector conference attended by close to 200 participants.
Jim Tallman was recognized for his long-standing leadership, commitment to empowering immigrants and refugees receiving the 2019 AMSSA Service Recognition Volunteer Award during AMSSA’s Annual General Meeting September.
ISSofBC CEO recognized for life’s work in social services
Patricia Woroch was among four awardees of varying lengths of service honoured for their “outstanding contributions to the social services sector” at CSSEA’s 5th annual BC Community Social Services Awards of Excellence luncheon in October.

ISSofBC Burnaby staff have set up a community tree where clients are welcome to decorate and write about what they are thankful for during the holiday season. So far, 30 inspiring quotes in multiple languages hang along the branches.
Clients, staff and volunteers in the Tri-Cities area cheered on for the Coquitam Express hockey team during an annual winter field trip to Poirier Sports Complex. For many attending, this was their first experience watching a live game!
The Spark and Ignite team shared client success stories along with making connections and collaborations with government departments and other non-profit organizations during the Surrey Small Business Information Expo (SBIE).
ISSofBC shows appreciation to dedicated volunteers
Food, music, prizes and a Bollywood dance lesson made for a memorable evening to recognize and celebrate ISSofBC volunteers in New Westminster. Attendees also had the opportunity to connect and share their volunteer experiences.
ISSofBC presented how mentorship contributes to creating diverse and inclusive communities during the City of Richmond's Diversity Symposium attended by a range of committed community partners in Metro Vancouver.
ISSofBC clients learned about the significance of the turban, the symbolism of henna designs and watched performances while enjoying delicious Indian food during the annual Diwali celebrations at the Maple Ridge Public Library.
