ISSofBC is Top Settlement Agency in Canada
ISSofBC has been named the Top Settlement Agency in Canada in 2018 by RBC (Royal Bank) and the Canadian Immigrant​ magazine!

"We’re very pleased to be the recipient of this inaugural award and we’re very proud to be contributing to making Canada the wonderful, diverse country that it is. This award is also a recognition of the great work our staff does and that makes us doubly proud," said CEO Patricia Woroch.

The Top Settlement Agency in Canada award celebrates the contributions, dedication and hard work of agencies in helping immigrants settle and succeed in Canada.

Syrian refugee resolved to dream big despite odds
Anas Sehmus, a Syrian refugee was welcomed at ISSofBC in May thanks to a US resident whose wish to help Anas and other Syrian refugees saw him reaching across his country’s northern border to ISSofBC.

ISSofBC commemorated World Refugee Day at the Vancouver Public Library among numerous refugee and immigrant serving organizations, guest speakers and an emotional yet inspiring speech from a former refugee who fled Honduras in 2011.

LINC and settlement staff opened the doors June 28 at the newest Burnaby location showcasing ISSofBC’s free English language program and settlement services. The open house included speeches, games and the opportunity to meet staff.
Students graduate from Welcome Centre Preschool
Over 50 parents, friends and students celebrated the end of another preschool year last Friday with a party and live music featuring the East Van Marimba All Stars. 13 children graduated from the preschool program this year.

ISSofBC Squamish attended the Whistler Multicultural Festival to connect with the community. The colourful array of performers included a drum session tribute to Squamish-Lilloet First Nations territory and Chinese traditional dancers.
Seniors learn about ancestors and beauty of B.C.
Close to 50 seniors from Surrey, Burnaby and Afghanistan celebrated National Indigenous Peoples Day on Grouse Mountain to learn the culture and history from Indigenous people in addition to observing wildlife in the area.

ISSofBC in partnership with the Province of British Columbia have created the BC Refugee Hub where users can learn about refugees arriving to the province, read the latest status of the arrival of refugees and find local resettlement programs, services and resources.
