Global Talent FCR Loans Programs - Get your foreign credential recognized or switch to an alternative career! If you are an Internationally trained professional, you have a unique opportunity to return to your career or alternative career in Canada through the Global Talent FCR Loans program. Through a team of expert advisors, you will have exclusive access to low-cost loans and support to gain credential recognition. The loan can be applied to cover costs of credential evaluation, examination fees, membership fees, travel and living allowance and/or short-term training opportunities in a related or unrelated career. Program advisors are also with you every step of the way offering a thorough action plan, job search tools and connections to employers to help you succeed in your career goals. TFW Online Learning Project - Are you working in Canada under the Temporary Foreign Workers (TFW) program, i.e. caregivers, construction/hospitality and service jobs? Do you feel that there are times when it is hard for you to communicate and convey your concerns? TFW Online Learning Project is coming your way to help you enhance your communication skills and be empowered! Using your smart phones or computers, you can access workshops at the comfort of your home or anywhere you maybe. In addition, you will receive an individualized feedback and interactive discussion with a Case Manager. If needed, referrals to resources and employment services are also available. Youth in Tech New Cohort - New Employment Program for youth ages 18-24 to launch their career in Tech! Now accepting applications for their upcoming cohorts starting July 2, 2019. YOUTH IN TECH is a skills training and employment program customized for immigrant and refugee youths interested in pursuing careers in the Tech Sector - Web Development, Digital Marketing/ Design, Information & Communications Technology. The program provides youth with hands-on opportunities to build digital skills, meet industry leaders and gain meaningful work experience in Tech. Join our information session to learn more!
Location: Services are delivered at the ISSofBC Surrey Welcome Centre. However, the program is open to all newcomer youth living in Metro Vancouver.

Spark – Are you wondering if self-employment is right for you? Are you interested in being self-employed but aren’t sure what kind of business to get into? SPARK is a no-cost part-time program to help you discover if self-employment is right for you, and to develop business ideas if you are a fit for self-employment. We can help you research and refine ideas before entering a full self-employment training program. Advanced Literacy and Essential Skills (ALES) in the Workplace for IT Professionals - Are you an internationally trained IT Professional such as a programmer/software developer, network technician/system administrator, or data analyst/database administrator looking to get your first job in Canada or move up in your career? Are you feeling like your communications skills are holding you back? ALES@WORK is the program for you. Unemployed, under-employed and employed immigrant IT Professionals are welcome. You can be a new Canadian, too. At ALES@WORK you will:
  • Improve your oral and written communication and critical thinking skills
  • Be linked to IT employers, hiring and networking events and other ISSofBC services
ALES@work is currently holding info sessions for our upcoming cohort. The next cohort runs from September 17th to November 28th, Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 to 9 pm. Tips for Successful Interviews Workshop - The ability to handle yourself well at an interview is a skill you can learn. Join our workshop and learn tips on the following:

  • Responding to behavioural and situational questions
  • Closing the interview and creating a lasting good impression
  • Professional follow-up
This is a free workshop for permanent residents, live-in-caregivers, naturalized Canadian citizens, refugees, refugee claimants and provincial nominees.
