Resume and Cover Letters Workshop - May 14, 9:30am-12:30pm at the ISSofBC Welcome Centre, Room 203. A free workshop for permanent residents, live-in-caregivers, naturalized Canadian citizens, refugees, refugee claimants and provincial nominees. Develop skills to create a targeted resume, learn to write strong cover letters to gain attention of local employers and get help with preparing a reference list to complete your job search tool kit. Tips for Successful Interviews Workshop - May 15, 9:30am-12:30pm at the ISSofBC Welcome Centre, Room 203. The ability to handle yourself well at an interview is a skill you can learn. Tips on interview preparation and readiness, answering common interview questions, responding to behavioural and situational questions, closing the interview and creating a lasting good impression and professional follow-up. This is a free workshop for permanent residents, live-in caregivers, naturalized Canadian citizens, refugees /refugee claimants and provincial nominees. Skills and Supports for Job Success Session - Recruiting now for Skills & Supports for Job Success, a free job readiness training program! Five weeks of full-time classes to prepare your for the workforce. Learn about the labour market, the hidden job market, resume writing, interview skills, your transferable skills, how to connect with employers, and more. Classes are followed by several weeks of work experience or a supported job search. Short-term certificate training may be available. 10-week Vancouver program starts May 2811-week Coquitlam program starts June 4.
Eligibility: Non EI eligible, Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Protected Person, Eligible to work in Canada, Unemployed or working less than 20 hrs/wk, 18 yrs +, intermediate English
