As of October 1, 2017 203 GARs are expected to arrive in Metro
Vancouver before mid-December. Through the ISSofBC hub and
spoke model there is also a remaining target of 11 GARs destined
to Nanaimo and 9 GARs destined to Vernon.

Top future source countries include - Syria, Somalia, Democratic
Republic of the Congo, Afghanistan and Iraq.

Effective October 1, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship
Canada (IRCC) announced increased Resettlement Assistance
Program (RAP) income support rates for GARs (currently active as
well as future RAP income support recipients) to BC including a
$200 monthly housing supplement regardless of family unit size,
funds for three zone bus passes for adults and seniors and
increased funding for household goods and furniture.

The full implementation of active RAP income support recipients prior to
October 1 will likely take until the end of this year.
