What? Grand Opening – ISSofBC Welcome Centre

- Two ISSofBC clients (Afghanistan youth and Iranian newcomer with technical/professional background)
When? June 25, 2016; 1:00pm to 4:30pm Where? 2610 Victoria Drive, Vancouver
Why? Two years after ground was broken on June 20, 2014, the new ISSofBC Welcome Centre – the first immigrant-serving facility of kind – opens its doors to the world. The Centre brings together under one roof, essential services offered by ISSofBC and its partners/co-tenants that meet the immediate needs of immigrants and refugees arriving in B.C.
Highlights The event features:
- A formal ceremony with blessing and prayer by Coast Salish-Musqeam representative, remarks by representatives of three levels of government, one private sponsor of the building project, and two active ISSofBC clients.
- Ribbon-cutting ceremony.
- Family-oriented celebratory activities including guided facility tours, live performances, a children’s theatre and a cultural exhibit.

- Provides 18 first and some second-stage housing units that can accommodate up to 138 beds.
