My guest today on the podcast is one of my oldest and dearest friends - Los Angeles studio bass player Paul ILL.
Through the years Paul has played with a wide variety of great artists both in the studio and on the road, including Tina Turner, Pink, Gwen Stefani and Alicia Keys, and more recently Bob Weir, Mike Love and producers Michael Lloyd and Linda Perry.
Paul has been on the podcast before way back on podcast #3 and then on #91, but I wanted to get him back to discuss the changing scene for studio musicians here in Los Angeles today.
In the interview we spoke about changes in studio work and how the projects are actually getting longer, trends in recording, how jam sessions have changed, difference in player skills, and much more in a discussion that steers much more philosophical than usual.
On the intro I'll look at many common social media mistakes made by artists and musicians, and the surprising leader in headphone market share these days.
