I’m going to make a fairly big claim.
This could be your best football season ever.
Not because your team suddenly signs three world-class players.
Not because VAR finally starts making sense.
And definitely not because every 87th-minute equaliser mysteriously starts going your way.
I mean your trading.
Because this season you can do something most traders spend far too long avoiding:
Test your ideas properly.
Normally it goes something like this:
You invent a strategy.
Trade it Saturday.
Win twice.
Decide you’ve cracked football.
Lose four times on Tuesday night.
Start questioning the strategy.
Change three rules.
Trade the new version Wednesday.
Lose again.
By Saturday morning you’re basically running a completely different strategy and pretending that was the plan all along.
Imma give you another option.
Come up with the idea.
Backtest it.
See what happened historically.
Change it.
Test it again.
Then decide whether it deserves your money.
Maybe this won’t be the season you discover some magical 97% strike-rate system.
Good.
I don’t think that exists anyway.
But it absolutely could be the season you stop guessing quite so much.
And that would be a pretty bloody good season.
