So...
how did the football trading go this weekend?
There are usually three answers.
A) Brilliant. Football trading is easy and I am a genius.
B) Terrible. Football trading is impossible and everybody is cheating.
C) Somewhere in the middle, which is annoyingly less dramatic.
The dangerous ones are A and B.
Because one good weekend can make a fairly average strategy look brilliant.
And one horrible weekend can make a perfectly reasonable strategy look broken.
Football has a nasty habit of doing that.
Three matches go your way and suddenly you’re mentally pricing up the Lamborghini.
Three go against you and you’re Googling:
“Can Betfair legally do this to me?”
This is where having historical data is rather useful.
Because you don't have to judge an idea on whatever happened over the last 48 hours.
You can test the thing.
What happens over a much bigger sample?
What happens when you alter the criteria?
What happens when you change the entry?
That’s a much better conversation than:
“Well, Bournemouth ruined my Saturday, so the strategy must be dead.”
If you’ve got an idea you’re trading this season...

Then let the data argue with you.
