Hey!
We often get asked what does the team at BTC do and I think it’s worth addressing and putting it all together as we enter this 10 year celebration event.
It’s a chance to go down memory lane and share with you some stories about BTC and get to know us and how we got here.
There’s 4 main characters at BTC.
Let’s start with me (Ryan).
Well I created BTC as I told you yesterday because I wanted a place where it was fun to talk about trading and that we could learn together. I’ve learnt a lot over the ten years of doing this and since we made this more professional around 3 years ago I have been in charge of the marketing - yes I am the reason you get emails and see adverts on social media!
You’ll see now my trading is automated and I am sharing the wins and the losses! It’s a fun project!
Then the second is Martin, the guy who came to see me in Lincoln wearing his favourite Miami Dolphins jacket and told me about his desire to do something together (I was worried at first too!) but he wanted to have more of a role in the community. He was in the community and was very much an up and comer. It was clear he could bring something else, although at the time I had zero idea what the hell I was doing. Just bumbling along.
Martin handles the video editing, the forum, the customer service and producing some of the videos you see on Youtube.
One thing I have always seemed to have a handle on though?
What the members want. Mainly because I ask, then shut up and listen.
Which is where the third character comes in.
Adam Williams. A giant of a man.
I hear my office door open in Lincoln, when it wasn’t a building site and I used to work from an office. Then see this skinhead duck as he comes through the door.
It was Adam. You see Adam also a member was a whizz on computers. Which is what I needed, because you guys wanted to have access to stats. The same sort of stats that we were using.
The problem at the time was that we were copying and pasting them from many sources, spending hours per week looking at the data and getting it into a readable fashion.
Adam solved that. He already had the data. Being ‘The IT Guy’ he had built many bots but also a database. Adam is one of the most successful betfair traders about that you haven’t heard about!
When we plugged in what he had built it changed everything. He’s built software that saves you hours, it makes the historical data betfair give you readable, allows you to backtest strategies and get your selections in minutes daily.
Adam’s role is software development, he builds and maintains all the software we have. Having a trader who is crazy profitable building software is a huge bonus!
Which leads me to the last one.
YOU.
All of you. Members, podcast listeners, Youtube subs, email people.
You play the biggest part of this community. Whether you know it or not. You are all part of our community and it’s your engagements and interactions with us that make us enjoy what we do so much.
