Most Betfair football traders look at the HT/FT market and think the same thing.
“Looks interesting… but where would you even start?”
And I get it.
At first glance, Half-Time / Full-Time looks messy.
Home/Home. Draw/Home. Draw/Away. Away/Draw.
It feels like one of those markets that’s only useful if you’re trying to land a big-priced punt.
But when you slow it down and look at what the market is actually asking…
It becomes a lot more interesting.
Because you’re not just asking:
“Who wins this match?”
You’re asking:
“How is this match likely to develop?”
That’s a much better question.
Some teams start quickly and fade.
Some teams are slow starters but strong after half-time.
Some favourites struggle to break teams down early, then take control late.
Some underdogs can stay level for 45 minutes, but rarely survive the full 90.
That’s where the HT/FT market starts to become useful.
Not as a guessing game.
In today’s video, I’m going through a new HT/FT Betfair trading strategy and showing how I’d start thinking about this market from a trading point of view.
You’ll see:
Why the HT/FT market is misunderstood
What kind of teams and match profiles I’d look for
How to think about half-time patterns
Why second-half strength matters
How to avoid treating this like a random long-odds bet
The big thing is this:
You don’t need more random strategies.
You need a way to test ideas properly.
Because a strategy only becomes useful when you can track it, measure it, and see if the data backs it up.
That’s exactly what we help members do inside Betfair Trading Community.
