This wasn’t part of the plan.
When I decided to share this warts and all I didn’t think I would be writing to tell you that in one month pretty much all my profit would be wiped out.
BUT
I am here and I will share it. That’s what this project is about. It’s about me venturing into uncharted realms, to see if I can with the help of Adam turn automation into a viable way of trading.
What happened?
Well I added 2 more strategies to this bot because I had 2 strategies that were using the forecast and also dutching a couple of horses that met certain criteria in certain races.
My first lay the 3rd fav strategy has actually made £43.64 profit from £1 stakes.
While the other two have lost £53.07 :O
Now this is always going to happen variance, these strategies were profitable when I tested them - sods law I turn the bot on and they go through a terrible run.
I don’t buy just that though. Digging into this I am just on the delayed standard API access, which turns out is no good for this.
Oh boy am I upgrading that now to get the faster API to be able to get back to the results I had when testing.
How am I handling the losses?
Well the first thing I have noticed is that because I am not checking the balance that often helps, I have procedures in place if it goes on a crazy losing run mind I am not just letting this race to the bottom!
But I also know that this is a process, my initial trading wasn’t profitable straight away, it took time and I would argue that it was easier back then.
The automation thing is a whole new ball game and the only way to learn it was to get fully stuck in, I knew I was going to make mistakes and it wouldn’t all be plain sailing but the end goal is what I am focusing on.
I still firmly believe that when this is done right it can pull in decent profits on a consistent basis.
What’s the plan?
Upgrade the API access, that costs money yep but like I said this is an investment in something for the future. I firmly believe this is where I should be focusing my trading.
Carry on with the strategies. I am still ahead, the losses have taken a lot of my profit but I will still continue as when they were tested they showed huge promise - so no panicking just yet.
It would be great to hear about the thoughts you have had around this newsletter.
