This leaves the bank standing at £368.34, yes I know that’s more than the 40pts profit but that’s because I am writing this on the 3rd of July and it’s carried on performing well.
After 14 days in June this bot had the bank sitting at £362.22, it then had a couple of days where it had a few bad days. I am ok with this, now finally. I know I need to let it do its thing.
And boy did it…
It brought in 30 points in the last 3 days of the month, there’s something in that.
For me that just really tells me that I have to leave the bot and let it trade, now of course it needs monitoring so it doesn’t go rogue but I have to make sure I don’t panic and turn it off (Adam will read this and think ‘Do you even know how to do that Ryan?!’).
Only getting involved when I really need to. I think it’s also important for me to state that if I had turned it off at that point for whatever reason that might not have been a bad thing, because…
There’s one thing I have learnt about Betfair trading over the last 16 years (something which I think a lot of the YouTubers need to learn!) is that there’s multiple ways to win.
Just because you want to trade a certain way doesn’t mean it's wrong or right, it just means it’s right for you. Which is key. There’s some maths whiz kids I know that no matter what wouldn’t ever be able to trade the way I used to, because it doesn’t follow their idea of stats and maths.
The same goes the other way for me, the way they trade I couldn’t get into.
Does it mean we are both right or wrong? The only thing that matters is that we both get closer to the goals we both want.
One of the reasons I wanted to do this automated trading was to develop my skills as well, I actually feel like a dinosaur. I have beat myself up about this for a couple of days as well because I used to trade so simply.
Now this way of trading is so much more sophisticated. It doesn’t mean either is right, wrong or even better than the other. All it means is that it's a different approach to attacking the same goal.
The goal we are all chasing: Make money on Betfair.
There’s nothing really deep or exciting for me to add really either now to this. The only thing I need to do now is hope that I carry on making money every month from this. Then I will look to increase the stakes on this.
For that I will speak with Adam, I have my own views and ideas on this which we shall chat about but he’s run bots forever. I want to lean into his experience here. I also want to look at the strategy data in the software and look at how the strategy has performed in the past to see the impact losing and winning runs have on the bank.
Past results are not going to guarantee success in the future but it’s a good start.
That’s it folks. I’ll be back next month and can you believe it will be August?
I’m sure Adam will be writing one of these soon, although he doesn’t like writing emails as much as me. These tech guys, ey?
