Hey Friend-
A few years back, I was in the studio with a legendary guitar player on a project - just the two of us, no distractions. The kind of rare session where you can really listen critically to every nuance.
He set his guitar down to grab coffee and I (of course!) asked if I could play it for a minute. It had sounded incredible when he was playing, but of course, he's an amazing player.
When I picked it up and started playing through the studio monitors, I was blown away. This big, full, fat, warm, punchy tone was coming from my hands. I even plugged in my own guitar to make sure - same result.
It wasn't the guitar. It wasn't the amp (he was using mine).
It was the entire studio signal chain - the pristine preamps, the EQs, that monster mixing board, and sitting right in the sweet spot of the signal chain, a warm vintage 1176 compressor.
That moment started my obsession with recreating that recorded sound and FEEL in a pedal, which led to the original Ego 76 Compressor pedal.
But ever since we released that pedal, I kept getting the same question from customers over and over.
"Brian, would you ever make a miniature version? I don't have much room on my pedalboard for a full sized pedal."
So that's exactly what the Mini Ego 76 is.
Instead of knobs for attack and release, I used three-position switches to keep it compact. And I dialed in the tone to capture that vintage warmth with the clean presence the 1176 is known for when you really dig in.
It's the same studio magic that blew me away that day, now in a smaller size to fit busy pedalboards.
The Mini Ego 76 just released today, and I wanted my core audience to get first dibs. With everything happening in manufacturing in the US right now, we have a limited initial run - but I made sure we had enough for the people who've been following my work.
If you've been looking for that missing piece that takes your tone from good to magical, this might be it.

P.S. - Once you experience that complete studio signal chain foundation in your tone, you'll understand why I became obsessed with recreating it. It's not just compression - it's pure studio magic.
