THE STORIES ARE TRUE

SITTING IN EARLY MORNING PRAYER. Still. Silence. Ancient Psalms giving testimony to the glory of God. His unveiling triumph. Weaving of divine purposes in and through human history.
I'M STILL SITTING AMIDST THE OVERFLOWING STREAMS of grace from our trip to Rome. Streams of living water. Refreshing seeds of my soul. Giving new life. Making me mindful of the vast horizon of human history. The rise and fall of great civilizations. God's crowning Glory of it all in Jesus Christ. Lived through those to whom He revealed Himself. So blessed and privileged to experience those streams. Not just important thoughts in a compilation of others. Or fleeting moments of reflection. Or something like a story, or myth, or epic, merely speaking to something within. Remaining distant. No. God has taken on flesh and blood. He has come close.
AS I WALKED ABOUT THE STREETS OF ANCIENT ROME haunted, captivated by something from far and distant ages, speaking in a still small voice, an echo otherwise silly but powerfully poignant reverberated in my soul. A statement made by Han Solo in the concluding episode of Star Wars. Shared by every human who has been privileged to participate. Who would dare draw close:
"THE STORIES ARE TRUE."
AS THESE STORIES WEAVE TOGETHER, human and divine, literally in the person of Jesus Christ, as we have been fashioned of His nature and dignified for participation in His eternal life, as we are held in existence by His very breath, we are not merely passive observers. Accordingly, history presents us with a question:
