PAVING THE WAY | DEACON RICK NELSON
DEACON RICK NELSON was called home Sunday, September 27, at 3:45P, after days of battle following a very unexpected cardiac event last Wednesday. We learned the news just after completion of a Chaplet of Divine Mercy for him, and for his amazing wife, Kathryn, and their whole family. Thanks to all of you here who labored in prayer for him.
We had just spent a blessed evening at their home a couple weeks ago. A subject of conversation was the unexpected loss of his beloved brother-in-law, also a deacon, who had been called home a few months earlier. An amazing family and history.
BUT DEACON RICK WAS SURELY READY. One of the very best brothers in Christ anyone could ask for. Our bonds ran deep, from deep theological and political conversations, to classical rock. Throw in cigars, brandy and poker. So many memorable hours spent seeking to build the Kingdom. He wrote the very first check to support our nonprofit movement seven years ago. He presided at a number of our IGNITE events.
AS A SURGEON HE HAD SAVED INNUMERABLE LIVES PHYSICALLY. He retired last year to take up a mission of aiding those released from prison. To form them for eternity. Innumerable souls are now on the path to the Kingdom because of Deacon Rick.
THE ONLY THING GREATER than our desire for him to be with us is his desire for us to be with him. We are now blessed with a beloved brother who will intercede for us before the Throne of God.
ETERNAL REST GRANT UNTO HIM LORD, and let your perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.
