Happy Almost Summer!
Join me on a little tour through What-If-Ville.
Have you ever stopped to consider where your life might be right now if it weren't for certain decisions made by your parents, others, or by you? Where would you be right now? What would you be doing? How different would your life look?
Perhaps What-If-Ville held for you a better job, a different neighborhood, a nicer car, or even different family circumstances.
But consider this for a moment:
It was the exact combination of circumstances that made you who you are! For real. Right here. Right now. God's Hand guiding you. And right now, hear Him proclaim: You are a son or daughter of the living God! Created to participate in His very life. Made for the indwelling of His Spirit. At this very moment, He knows you, holds you in existence, and loves you deeply.
Every circumstance surrounding you—by any measure—is part of a custom-designed retreat by God intended for an ever-deeper awakening to this truth. An ever-deeper encounter with Him.
Moreover, as today's Gospel reminds us, we are called to be salt and light. (Matt. 5:3-16) We are in a position to make this ultimate truth known to those around us. We are in a position to do small things that make a profound difference—things that, years from now, may become part of someone else's What-Is story. People who will one day thank God for the role we were privileged to play.
Along those lines, some simple invitations.

Beyond everything happening in the world right now—and there is much happening—is the Hand of a loving God who is guiding all things toward His glory. In Him, there is no What If. There is only What Is.
