Library Director's Message

Hello,

Summer is in full swing and dare I say (despite the latest heat wave) this weather has been delightfully summer-y! I was inspired to put up a hammock in the backyard and it was a great idea! I spend a few minutes out there each evening with a book or magazine. Sometimes I just stare at the sky and listen to the birds. It’s been the perfect way to soak up a bit of time outdoors and a good reminder that you’re never too old to feel like a kid again.

Our Adult Summer Reading program is going strong! There’s still time to participate and enter our raffle before it winds down for the season on Thursday September 1. Magazines (as delightful as they are to read on a hammock!) don’t count towards the summer reading prizes, but you can read as many books, ebooks, audiobooks, and graphic novels as you’d like.

Build your home library and support Berlin-Peck's programs and services! Our Friends Bookstore has extended hours in August. Shop a large selection of used books on Mondays 2:30-6PM and Wednesdays 9AM-6PM. Our Friends fund our museum passes, library programs, and special events throughout the year.

I am delighted to report that our door count is up, and patrons are back in the library. It has been wonderful to see patrons connect and hear children’s laughter again in our building. If you’re not quite ready to come in, we still happily offer curbside service. While we don’t yet have a hammock in our library of things, we do have an outdoor projector for a movie night under the stars, life-size Jenga, puzzles, board games, outdoor games, books, and magazines. I hope you have an opportunity to feel like a kid again this summer.

Warmly,

Kim McNally

Library Director
