Journey Together For One Year . . .

In my experience, the journey to understand the family dynamics that influences a child's development of sexual or gender identity conflicts takes one year.

In the last ten years, I have worked with hundreds of mothers and fathers whose children have either come out as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender or are struggling with unwanted same-sex attractions or gender identity conflicts.

Usually, their first response is something like "What can we do?" or "How can we fix this?" It's as if they view their son or daughter's struggle as a project to fix or a formula to solve. But their child is not a problem to be fixed, he is a person to be loved.

The problem parents often experience is that, while their intentions are very good, their ability to express love in a healthy way misses the mark. Because we are all flawed, broken people, our relationships are also flawed and broken. Our families are flawed and broken. Until we realize this, we cannot love the right way.

Our year-long journey of love is meant to help families understand how to heal their families and love the right way. See below for more details on how you can take the journey with us!

In The War on Psychotherapy: When Sexual Politics, Gender Ideology, and Mental Health Collide, Christopher Doyle, a licensed psychotherapist, and leader in the #TherapyEquality movement with the National Task Force for Therapy Equality, describes in frightening detail this unprecedented attack upon core ethical and legal principles regarding psychotherapy, such as client autonomy, privacy, respect for religious convictions, and the free speech rights of therapists. He also presents decades of scientific research that demonstrates sexual attraction and gender identity are not fixed or innate, but are fluid and commonly change, with and without therapeutic intervention. Click here to watch the lecture
Judge Ignores SCOTUS in MD Counseling Ban Opinion

GREENBELT, MD – U.S. District Judge Deborah Chasanow ignored binding Supreme Court precedent and issued an opinion dismissing Liberty Counsel’s lawsuit seeking a preliminary and permanent injunction against Maryland's law prohibiting minors from receiving voluntary counseling from licensed professionals to reduce or eliminate unwanted same-sex attractions or gender confusion. Liberty Counsel will immediately appeal this decision to the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.

In Doyle v. Hogan, Liberty Counsel represents Christopher Doyle, a licensed professional counselor in Virginia and Maryland. Doyle is challenging Maryland's SB 1028, which was signed into law by Maryland governor Larry Hogan and went into effect on October 1, 2018. Doyle counsels minors who voluntarily seek his help and are struggling with unwanted same-sex attractions, behaviors, and identity. Doyle’s counseling is provided solely through speech, but it is prohibited by Maryland’s counseling ban because the state disapproves Doyle’s viewpoint. SPLC Targets, Shuts Down Faith-Based Crowdfunding Site

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (ChurchMilitant.com) - A non-profit is fighting back against a lawsuit from the far-left Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), which has forced its closure and shut down its crowdfunding platform.
Church Militant spoke with Christopher Doyle, executive director of Institute for Healthy Families and the author of The War on Psychotherapy, and one of the expert witnesses denied the opportunity to testify on behalf of JONAH in 2015.
He called SPLC a "bully organization" and said, "This case has always been about a political organization that is targeting low-hanging fruit — smaller organizations with little means to defend themselves." Click here to read more.
McKrae Game is misguided in renouncing gay therapy ministry, ex-gay counselor says

A former homosexual and licensed professional counselor for those with unwanted same-sex attraction has responded to longtime conversion therapy practitioner, McKrae Game, renouncing sexual orientation change efforts therapy.

Christopher Doyle, a counselor and the executive director of the Institute for Healthy Families, told The Christian Post on Wednesday that he had once met Game and, while considering him a “nice man,” believed he was “emotionally unhealthy.”

“As McKrae lamented in his recent apology, he was operating in a pseudo-counseling role with Hope for Wholeness and not properly trained to deal with the mental health issues of clients that struggle with sexual and gender identity conflicts,” Doyle said.
